Busking!

Posted on 17 April 2008 by Natalie

Our friend Paul flew in from Colorado yesterday.  We have had a blast hanging out with him.  Last night we walked to Park Avenue and hung out creating music.  Paul brought his guitar with him from Colorado, opened the case up ready for cash.  Then Justin had his djembe (African type drum).  And I had my voice.  Let the busking begin! The three of us had so much fun.  We even attracted some attention from locals walking buy that wanted to join in the fun.  Singing songs, improvising the music IMG_3018.JPGand lyrics was a blast as people walking by us would stop and hang out for a while offering new topics to sing about.  We sang about  everything from “Chilly Florida Weather” to “Earth Day”.  Justin and I have read that becoming a street entertainer while traveling is a great way to supplement your income as you backpack.  Now we are seriously considering trying it out for an hour or so in a few different cities as we travel.  It’s a great way to meet locals, have some fun and make some quick cash.

So, here’s a tip if you ever plan on going on a nomad backpacking adventure.  Everyone has some type of musical talent or magical ability (juggling, card tricks, etc).  And if you don’t you can learn something really fast!  I’ve even found a helpful Tips on Busking website.  Justin’s been throwing around buying a harmonica because it will travel light with us.

  4. Do you mind if I quote a couple of your posts as long as I provide credit and sources back to your webpage? My website is in the very same area of interest as yours and my users would certainly benefit from a lot of the information you provide here. Please let me know if this okay with you. Thanks!
